Self Care

What is Self Care?

 

Self Care is any behaviour or activity that is helpful for a person's mood, or health. It is in no way self-destructive or counterproductive. The best forms of self care promote feelings of joy, mastery, or relaxation.

sleep, nourish your social life, balanced diet, exercise, relaxation activities, setting realistic goals short and long term goals, mindfulness, self-awareness,

Why is Self Care Important?

​

Research suggests that sufficient self care can prevent many health issues including anxiety and mood disorders such as depression (Lin et al., 2004). It has also been shown to help with confidence, and relationships. Importantly, self-care can help manage symptoms of existing mental health conditions.
